Obituary-James Edward Casey
Mr. James Edward Casey “Casey” Of Cedar Creek, TX died on Jan. 6, 2016 at the age of 64. James died from aggressive small cell lung cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Casey of Cedar Creek, six children and 15 grandchildren.
James was born on August 28, 1951 in El Campo, to Edward H. Casey and Luella Bodungen Casey. He graduated from El Campo High School in 1969. He married Mary Nell Sargent Casey on June 16, 1979. Many know him for his amazing musical talents. His band in high school started his career: James Casey and the Wandering Cowboys. He was also lead singer of Sounds of Country and then, and more commonly known, James Casey and the Texas Swing Band.
A funeral was held Jan. 10, 2016 in Bastrop, at The Marrs-Jones Newby Funeral Home with gravesite farewell following the ceremony. Rev. Mike Schwarts of Wyldwood Baptist Church officiated the ceremony.

RIP James. I'll always remember our days playing in a country band, "The Egyptian Cowboys", in EC. The band consisted of James, me, Harold Kite, and Zeke who was from Egypt (Near Glen Flora). We weren't any good but we had fun.
