Pete Quintana, Father of Classmates Robert Quintana and Pete Quintana and Father-in-Law of Monte Quintero (Stella), passed away April 1, 2024. Condolences to the Family of Mr. Quintana.
Obituary for Pete Nieto Quintana
Pete Nieto Quintana, 96, of El Campo, passed away April 1, 2024. He was born in Mackay on February 23, 1928 to the late Joe Quintana Sr. and Angelito Nieto Quintana. Pete worked for Cannell Air Conditioning until retirement and then for NAPA Auto Parts delivering parts until the age of 90.
He was a longtime member of St. Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church, a member of St. Vincent De Paul and a Eucharistic Minister at church and nursing homes. Pete received the Distinguished Service Award from the Hispanic Education Project in 2017 for his leadership and community contributions.
He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with family and friends and also cheering on the Ricebirds and Astros. He enjoyed coffee with the guys and was always ready to help others when needed.
Pete is survived by his sons, Robert Quintana of El Campo and Pete Quintana Jr. (Julie) of Katy; daughters, Stella Quintero (Monte) of El Campo and Bibie Tovar (Gabriel) of El Campo; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha Rangel of Bay City, Margie Guerra of Rosenberg and Marylou Villarreal of San Marcos and brothers, Benito Quintana of Big Springs, Ernest Quintana of Merced, CA and Daniel Quintana of San Marcos.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josie Quintana; his parents; step-mother, Fidela Quintana; grandson, Robert Quintana Jr.; sisters, Helen Hernandez, Adela Quintana, Betty Diaz, Lupe Longoria and Carolina Jacquez and brothers, Joe Quintana Jr., Johnny Quintana, William Quintana, Arthur Quintana and Felipe Munoz.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 8 at Triska Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9 at St. Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church with the Rev. Phillip Brune officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Nick Tovar Jr., Monte Quintero Jr., Ryan Quintana, Freddie Quintana, Steve Quintana and Rodney Quintana. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Jason Quintana, Eddie Cantu and Joe Rivera.
